Kwara orders statewide anti-snake fumigation
**Kwara State Orders Statewide Snake Fumigation to Boost Public Safety**
In a bid to safeguard residents from the growing threat of snake attacks, the Kwara State Government has directed a statewide anti-snake fumigation exercise across residential buildings, institutions, and other regulated premises. This decision was taken by the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency in response to increasing reports of snake bite incidents across the state.
According to a statement issued by the agency, all property owners and operators of regulated premises are expected to carry out the fumigation exercise immediately. The General Manager of the agency, Jide Aina, explained that the decision was taken as a preventive public safety measure to reduce the presence of snakes around homes, schools, offices, and other facilities across Kwara.
The fumigation exercise is aimed at reducing the likelihood of snake encounters in populated areas and ensuring a healthier living environment for residents across the state. To complement this effort, residents are advised to take proactive environmental sanitation measures around their homes to discourage reptiles from inhabiting such spaces.
Aina urged property owners and occupants to maintain proper sanitation and ensure that waste disposal practices do not create habitats for harmful animals. This, he said, is crucial in preventing snake infestations and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
In line with the directive, all regulated premises, institutions, and residential building owners across the state are expected to carry out the anti-snake fumigation exercise without delay. This move is expected to boost public safety and reduce the risk of snake bites in Kwara State.
For Nigerians, especially those living in rural areas or areas prone to flooding, this move by the Kwara State Government is a welcome development. It highlights the importance of environmental safety and sanitation in preventing the spread of diseases and ensuring public safety.
As the fumigation exercise gets underway, residents are advised to cooperate with the agency and report any snake sightings to the relevant authorities. By working together, we can create a safer and healthier living environment for all.
