Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. on April 16, 1947, is a former American basketball player and is considered one of the NBA’s all-time greats. He played as a center for 20 seasons, from 1969 to 1989, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. Abdul-Jabbar is in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and holds records for six NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, 19 All-Star selections, 15 All-NBA selections, and 11 All-Defensive Team honors.
