**Eid al-Fitr Break: Kano State Government Announces Resumption Dates for Schools**
As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, students in Kano State are getting ready to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday with their families. The Kano State Government has announced that Sunday, March 1, will mark the official start of the Eid al-Fitr break for all public and private primary and post-primary schools in the state.
This decision is in line with the 2025/2026 academic calendar approved by the state government. The second term of the academic session will end on February 28, paving the way for a well-deserved break for students. Parents and guardians of boarding school pupils are advised to ensure that their wards are conveyed home by Friday, February 27, to facilitate a smooth transition into the holiday.
The break provides students with a much-needed opportunity to relax and recharge after a long period of academic activities. However, students are expected to be back in school on Sunday, March 22, for boarding school pupils, while day students will resume on Monday, March 23, 2026. The second term of the new academic session is scheduled to start on March 22 and end on Saturday, April 18.
School authorities are expected to comply strictly with the resumption schedule, with any non-compliance considered a breach of the state government's directive. The state Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, has called on parents and guardians to adhere to the approved resumption dates to ensure that the academic calendar is maintained without disruption.
As students look forward to celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday with their families, they are also reminded of the importance of maintaining a good academic record. With the resumption dates announced, students and parents can now plan ahead for the new academic session, which promises to be an exciting and productive one.
