**NDLEA Foils Massive Drug Trafficking Plot, Exposes Cartels Across Nigeria**
In a major blow to drug cartels operating in Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has busted multiple networks involved in the smuggling of illicit substances across the country. The agency's coordinated operations, carried out in several states, led to the arrest of key suspects and the recovery of large quantities of drugs.
In one notable case, a 35-year-old businesswoman from Kano was intercepted at the Seme border while attempting to smuggle 3,200 capsules of tramadol into Benin Republic. The suspect had cleverly concealed the drugs in a fake pregnancy, making it difficult for authorities to detect. However, a thorough search revealed the artificial stomach, and the drugs were seized.
Another suspect, a 41-year-old Ivorian national, was caught at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while attempting to smuggle 82 wraps of cocaine into the country. The suspect had ingested the cocaine and later excreted it after being placed under observation. Investigations revealed that the suspect had been involved in the drug trade for some time and had connections to Cotonou and Abidjan.
In a major breakthrough, NDLEA operatives arrested the Chairman and CEO of a Lagos-based real estate company, Kolapo Oladapo Raji, who had been on the agency's watchlist since 2025. A search of his apartment led to the recovery of 89.2 kilograms of cannabis and a vehicle. This arrest is a significant victory for the agency, highlighting the role of high-profile individuals in the drug trade.
These operations demonstrate the NDLEA's commitment to combating drug trafficking in Nigeria. As the agency continues to work tirelessly to dismantle cartels, it's essential for Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. By working together, we can create a safer and more secure society for all.
