A High Court in Kano has sentenced two men to death by hanging for killing a newly married man during a robbery. The court found Aliyu Hussaini and Amir Zakariyya guilty of conspiracy, armed robbery, and culpable homicide over the death of Yazid Haruna. The prosecution told the court that the incident occurred on June 11, 2025, at about 2:47 am in Sheka Sabuwar Abuja Quarters, Kano. According to the prosecutor, Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, the two men armed themselves with long knives and machetes before attacking the victim. “They robbed the victim of his two mobile phones and N19,500 and stabbed him in the stomach, chest and head, which led to his death,” the prosecutor said.
