The Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has clarified that its ongoing teachers' assessment test is not intended to identify underperforming educators. Professor Haruna Musa, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, made the clarification on Sunday during an address to teachers at the assessment centre in Dutse. He described the exercise as a reform-driven initiative aimed at improving the quality of basic education in the state. According to Musa, the assessment is part of broader efforts by the state government to restructure the education sector through collaboration with teachers. He stressed that the process is not about witch-hunting or fault-finding but about engaging educators in shaping effective education policies. Teachers' experiences, challenges and suggestions are being sought to inform the reform process. Musa reaffirmed that educators are key partners in building a stronger education system. He encouraged teachers to remain dedicated, embrace innovation and continue supporting students' development. He expressed optimism that sustained cooperation would lead to measurable progress in Jigawa's basic education outcomes.
