**INEC Takes Giant Leap into the Future with AI Seminar in Lagos** The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has just concluded a significant workshop in Lagos on the development of a regulatory framework for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in electoral administration. The seminar, which brought together top officials from various state offices, technical experts, development partners, and key stakeholders, is a major step towards harnessing the power of emerging technologies in Nigeria's electoral process. The workshop, held on Monday, 16th March 2026, came at a time when technology is rapidly transforming governance systems and institutions globally. Election Management Bodies, including INEC, are now leveraging innovative tools to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and credibility of electoral processes. Prof. Aboyomi Salami, Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, represented by Mrs. Oluyemi Adeyemi-Showunmi, Administrative Secretary, welcomed participants to the seminar. He highlighted the Commission's commitment to technological innovation, citing notable achievements such as the introduction of biometric voter registration, the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
