**Bwari Chairmanship: APC's Joshua Ishaku Clinches Victory**
In a keenly contested election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Bwari Area Council Chairmanship election. According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, Joshua Ishaku secured a total of 18,466 votes, paving the way for his election as the new chair of the council.
The election, which took place on February 21, 2026, in 10 wards across Bwari Area Council, witnessed a strong showing from several parties. While the APC candidate, Ishaku, took the top spot with a significant margin, other parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) also put up a good fight. The ADC candidate secured 4,254 votes, while the ZLP candidate garnered 3,515 votes, placing them second and third respectively.
Bwari Area Council is one of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). As a key player in the FCT's governance, the chairmanship election has significant implications for the council's development and the lives of its residents. With Ishaku's victory, APC supporters in the area can expect their party to play a more prominent role in the council's activities and decision-making processes.
It is worth noting that the election results have been met with a mix of reactions from residents and observers. While some have hailed the outcome as a reflection of the people's choice, others have expressed concerns about the electoral process and the conduct of the parties involved. As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the APC has secured a significant win in Bwari Area Council, and Ishaku is set to take the reins as the new chair.
