IGP Olatunji Disu has praised retired Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun for his 35-year career and contributions to national development. Disu's commendation was delivered by Assistant Inspector-General Moshood Jimoh at a civic reception held on Saturday in Ilaro. The event, themed "Celebrating a Life of Service, Integrity and Leadership," was organised by the Yewa Peoples Development Council (YPDC) in collaboration with the Yewa Traditional Council. Disu described Egbetokun's tenure as the 22nd indigenous IGP as marked by professionalism, discipline, and impactful reforms. He highlighted achievements in crime prevention, institutional strengthening, and the promotion of community policing.

Disu noted that Egbetokun advanced accountability, respect for the rule of law, and responsiveness to security challenges. He said the retired chief left the force with honour and a legacy that would influence modern policing. Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Head of Service Kehinde Onasanya, lauded Egbetokun as the first indigene of Ogun State and Yewa land to become IGP. Abiodun credited him with helping manage farmers-herders conflicts, boosting peace in Yewa land. YPDC Chairman Rahamon Bello said the event aimed to inspire youth through Egbetokun's example of reform-driven leadership. Egbetokun credited his success to the values of integrity and accountability rooted in Yewa culture.
