**ICPC Tracks Zamfara's N4.61 Billion FG Projects to Ensure Value for Money**
In its ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria's public sector, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched a tracking exercise to monitor 35 Federal Government projects worth N4.61 billion across Zamfara State. Led by Dr Murtala Bankano, the exercise is designed to ensure that these projects deliver value for the nation's money.
The Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative, a collaborative effort between ICPC, the Budget Office, National Institute for Quantity Surveyors, and other stakeholders, aims to scrutinize government projects nationwide. In Zamfara, the focus is on six sectors: Education, Health, Water Resources, Power, Empowerment, and Agriculture. This comprehensive approach is expected to identify challenges and irregularities in project implementation, facilitating corrective actions and improving overall project outcomes.
During a recent briefing in Gusau, Dr Bankano revealed that some of the projects are nearing completion, while others are lagging behind. He urged contractors to revisit their sites and address any issues promptly, awaiting the National Institute for Quantity Surveyors' report for a more detailed assessment. The ICPC's objective is to ensure that these projects are implemented in line with national standards, ultimately benefiting the people of Zamfara State.
This initiative has significant implications for Nigeria's developmental trajectory. By promoting transparency and accountability in public projects, the ICPC is helping to prevent corruption and mismanagement of funds, which can hinder the country's progress. The tracking exercise in Zamfara is a crucial step towards achieving these goals, and we await the outcomes of this effort with great interest.
As Nigerians, we must commend the ICPC for its tireless efforts to promote good governance and ensure that our tax money is utilized effectively. The success of this initiative will not only improve the lives of Zamfara residents but also serve as a model for other states and sectors nationwide.
