Spread the word Retired Commissioner of Police, Dr. Sybil Olufunmilayo Akinfenwa, has urged comprehensive reforms in Nigeria’s policing system, emphasising the need for full management autonomy at police divisions and the integration of community policing in the proposed state policing structure. Speaking in an interview with Blueprint, Dr. Akinfenwa highlighted that empowering police divisions with adequate resources would enhance operational efficiency, improve public trust, and strengthen crime control nationwide. “This will highly impact the NPF because everything needed to do policing effectively, in terms of performance and efficiently in terms of attainment of organisational goals and objectives, at the grassroot levels will be at the disposal of the police division,” she said. ...
