The city was buzzing with excitement as it played host to the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival (SXSW), a celebration of movies and music that brings together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Avantika, who has starred in blockbuster hits like Mean Girls, was in town to promote her new film, Pretty Lethal, a high-octane ballet-themed action movie co-starring the likes of Uma Thurman, Maddie Ziegler, and Iris Apatow. For Avantika, this was her first time attending a film festival, and she couldn't be more thrilled. While in Austin, Avantika made sure to immerse herself in the local culture. She took a fun-filled karaoke cab ride from the airport, belting out her favorite tunes to the delight of her fellow passengers. "I had a blast terrorizing the streets of Austin with my off-key rendition of 'Valerie'," she laughs. As an actress, Avantika is no stranger to dancing, having been a part of the Mean Girls cast. But Pretty Lethal presented her with a new challenge – venturing into the action genre. "It was a challenge, but I was in ballet bootcamp to get ready," she says with a smile. "I was excited to play a feisty ballerina who takes on the Hungarian mafia." Throughout her stay in Austin, Avantika attended press days, interviews, and screenings of Pretty Lethal. She was joined by her co-stars, including Thurman, Ziegler, and Apatow. "Pretty Lethal is a bloody ballet action thriller featuring the most badass cast of women," Avantika describes the film. "It was a fun world to play in, and I'm excited to see how audiences react to it." Avantika's SXSW experience was a resounding success, and she's already looking forward to her next trip to the festival.
