Hong Kong police have initiated a search for three individuals allegedly involved in a suspected deception case, in which a shop reportedly lost 73kg of gold bars valued at approximately **US$12 million**, according to a report by the *South China Morning Post*.
On Friday, the force announced that a woman in Hung Hom had filed a report at 2:57 pm, stating that a nearby shop was suspected to have been burglarized. The woman claimed that the shop owner had informed her that someone had stolen the gold bars before fleeing in a private vehicle.
The incident allegedly took place at a privately owned gold shop located in the Peninsula Square commercial building on Sung On Street. A source revealed that the case involved a scheme in which a former partner of the shop allegedly tricked the manager into handing over gold bars worth around **US$12 million**. The individual then allegedly fled the scene with his wife and a male driver in a black Tesla.
During the investigation, police officers stopped a white vehicle near a toll plaza on the North Lantau Highway on the way to the airport.
