Google has introduced two new features, "Import Memory" and "Import Chat History", to its Gemini AI, allowing users to easily transfer their existing knowledge and chat history from one AI to another. This development is significant as it simplifies the process of switching between different AI assistants, making it more convenient for users to adapt to new AI tools. The "Import Memory" feature enables users to copy and paste a suggested prompt from Gemini into their previous AI, and then paste the output from the previous AI into Gemini, effectively updating Gemini's knowledge about the user's preferences.
The "Import Chat History" feature, on the other hand, allows users to export their entire chat history from their previous AI and upload it to Gemini in the form of a .zip file, up to 5GB in size. This feature enables users to pick up their conversations in Gemini from where they left off with their previous AI. Users can also delete specific imported chat histories or entire .zip file imports from the settings menu.
The new features are currently available to free and paid consumer Gemini accounts on desktop, but are not yet accessible to users with business, enterprise, or under-18 accounts. This update aims to enhance the user experience and make it easier for users to switch between different AI assistants.
Google's move to make it easier to import AI memory into Gemini is a significant step towards making AI assistants more user-friendly. This development could have implications for Nigerian tech professionals, particularly those working on AI projects, as it highlights the importance of seamless user experience in AI adoption.
