Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, a former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, has formally resigned from the party. His resignation was communicated in a letter addressed to APC officials in Sundimina Ward, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. Nakudu stated the decision followed careful consideration and expressed gratitude to the party for opportunities afforded him during his membership. He acknowledged the support of party stakeholders and affirmed that his withdrawal from all APC activities took immediate effect on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Nakudu previously served two terms in the Federal House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He later represented Jigawa South-West in the Senate from 2015 to 2019 on the APC platform. Though he did not disclose his next political destination in the letter, sources confirmed he is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with an official announcement expected soon.
Sabo Nakudu's exit from the APC, just months after contesting its governorship primary, signals growing unease among party members in Jigawa. His planned move to the ADC, a party with limited national traction, suggests he sees little room for influence within the APC's current structure. This shift may reflect broader frustrations among second-tier politicians who feel sidelined after elections. For Nigerian voters, such defections offer more spectacle than substance unless they lead to real policy competition.
