Fintiri declares self APC leader in Adamawa after defection

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State declared on Monday that he is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Fintiri, who officially defected to the APC last week, spoke against suggestions in some quarters that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who has been regarded as the party’s leader in the state, would remain in that position.
Addressing supporters at a reception held in Yola by APC leaders, Fintiri repeatedly referred to himself as the leader, saying at one point, “as leader of the party, I will ensure that we work together in unity.”
He vowed that, “as the leader”, he would ensure the party’s success across the state in the next elections.
