FG Releases Travel Advisory On Kara Bridge Planned Expansion
**FG Warns Motorists on Planned Kara Bridge Expansion, Offers Alternative Routes**
Nigerians, it's time to plan your travels carefully. The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a maintenance work on the Kara Bridge, located on the outbound Lagos highway. The work is expected to commence on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and will last for two weeks, ending on March 24, 2026.
The maintenance is a necessary step to replace damaged expansion joints on the bridge, which will ensure the safety and durability of the road. However, this temporary partial closure may cause some inconvenience to motorists.
To minimize the impact, the Federal Ministry of Works has advised drivers to consider alternative routes during the period of repair works. For those traveling from Ikorodu to Mowe, Sagamu, or Ibadan, they can take the Shimawa or Mosinmi route. Motorists from Lagos Island can take the Epe corridor through Ijebu Ode to reach Sagamu, Ibadan, or Mowe.
While a shorter route may not always be the fastest, motorists are advised to plan their journeys early, obey traffic management directives, and drive cautiously around the work zone. The Federal Ministry of Works appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the motoring public as it continues its efforts to maintain the nation's road infrastructure.
This maintenance work is a necessary step to ensure the safety and stability of the road. By planning ahead and taking alternative routes, motorists can avoid congestion and arrive at their destinations safely. So, Nigerians, let's be patient and work together to keep our roads safe and durable.
