The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has launched a biometric passenger verification system called VPASS to improve security and increase revenue in Nigeria's domestic airports. Minister Festus Keyamo disclosed the development on Thursday during the signing of a concession agreement in Abuja. The system will require passengers to register biometric data before domestic travel, enabling real-time verification at airport checkpoints. According to Keyamo, VPASS is expected to streamline passenger processing, reduce fraud, and enhance safety across the aviation sector. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria's aviation infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
