FCT polls: Many things went wrong – PDP spokesman, Ememobong

**FCT Election Fallout: A Recipe for Disaster?**
In the aftermath of the just concluded FCT Area Council election, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns over the conduct of the exercise. According to Ini Ememobong, the party's National Publicity Secretary, the election was marred by several irregularities that could have swayed the outcome.
Ememobong made these remarks on a Channels Television programme, where he noted that the 22-hour curfew imposed by the authorities before the election may have inadvertently influenced the result. This move, seen as unnecessary by many, could have kept potential voters indoors, thereby affecting the turnout.
Another contentious issue, according to Ememobong, was the conflicting statements issued by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the FCT Police Command. While the Minister seemed to be taking a prominent role in the election, Ememobong cautioned that the Minister's actions could have compromised the integrity of the exercise.
The PDP spokesperson also pointed out that the Minister's actions were not in line with his responsibilities, as he is not a voter in the FCT. This raised questions about the Minister's involvement in the election process and whether his actions were intended to sway the outcome.
The FCT election outcome has sparked concerns that similar irregularities could be repeated in future elections. The PDP has vowed to work with other opposition parties to address these issues and ensure that elections reflect the true will of the people.
