The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, CP Ahmed Sanusi, has sounded a warning to criminals operating in the area. Sanusi made this declaration during a briefing at the command on Wednesday, vowing to discharge his responsibilities with utmost commitment and diligence. The new police chief has pledged to build on the existing foundation, consolidate gains, and introduce new measures to enhance security in the territory.
Sanusi's tenure, according to him, will see the complete eradication of crime in the FCT. He has vowed to identify, pursue, and flush out criminal elements, going beyond mere response to crime prevention. The CP has also warned officers and men of the FCT Police Command against indiscipline and unprofessional conduct, stressing the need to maintain high standards of professionalism.
Residents have been called upon to collaborate with the police in ensuring security. Sanusi has declared an open-door policy, encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Commissioner has made it clear that the FCT is no longer a safe haven for criminals, warning those involved in unlawful activities to desist or face the full force of the law.
CP Ahmed Sanusi's words are music to the ears of residents in the FCT, who have long suffered the brunt of criminal activities. The Commissioner's commitment to ridding the territory of crime is a welcome development, but it remains to be seen if he will follow through on his promises. The FCT Police Command must be proactive in identifying and apprehending criminal elements, and the Commissioner must lead by example in maintaining high standards of professionalism. The people of the FCT deserve nothing less.
