**ADC Faction Blames Coalition Partners for Poor Election Showing**
In the aftermath of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has issued a strong statement, pointing fingers at coalition partners it claims undermined the party's chances.
According to Gombe, certain elements within the coalition disregarded the party's constitution, which ultimately contributed to the party's disappointing performance at the polls. This assertion was made during a press briefing in Abuja, where Gombe also distanced his faction from an international press conference organized by some self-proclaimed party stakeholders.
Gombe's camp has formally disassociated itself from the conference, emphasizing that these individuals do not represent the ADC. In a veiled attack on the David Mark-led group, Gombe criticized their accusations against the National Assembly for allegedly overstepping its bounds regarding the 2027 Electoral Act.
The National Assembly, he argued, is simply performing its constitutional duties, and such accusations are misguided. Instead of criticizing the legislature, Gombe urged coalition partners to focus on strengthening their relationship with the ADC.
The international community, Gombe noted, has ignored the appeals of these dissenting voices due to their undemocratic behavior and internal power struggles. He called on genuine party members and coalition partners to return to the party's ward offices to register and join the ADC, emphasizing that politics should be about serving the nation, not personal interests.
Gombe's message was clear: it's time to put aside personal ambitions and work towards rebuilding the country from the grassroots. The Authentic ADC, he emphasized, remains the platform for true change in Nigeria.
