EPL: Saliba, Timber On Target As Arsenal Edge Chelsea, Extend Lead To Five Points
Football • 21h ago
Arsenal maintained their grip at the top of the Premier League table after defeating Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, extending their lead to five points ahead of Manchester City.
There were hearts in Chelsea’s mouths as early as the fifth minute when Robert Sánchez almost gifted the ball to Viktor Gyökeres after dallying on it, but the Blues’ goalkeeper was eventually able to scramble it away.
However, the Gunners took the lead in the 21st minute as an inswinger from Bukayo Saka to the back post was headed back across the six-yard box by Gabriel Magalhães for Saliba to nod towards goal, with his effort deflecting in off Sarr.
