Prophet Isa El-Buba, convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, has endorsed Prince Adewole Adebayo's presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking at an SDP stakeholders' gathering in Abuja, El-Buba urged Nigerians to support leaders capable of restoring public confidence and rebuilding national institutions. He warned that Nigeria could face democratic decline if it moves toward a one-party state, stressing that justice, equity, and fairness are essential for national stability.
El-Buba criticized years of poor leadership, citing persistent insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and social injustice despite the country's vast resources. He said Nigeria's potential remains untapped because millions, especially young people, lack access to quality education and economic opportunities. "Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people, and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty, and injustice," he said.
The cleric called for collective action and national renewal, stating that Nigerians must unite to end what he described as clueless leadership. "Now is the time that we need to join forces together to rewrite history. Nigeria cannot continue to go through pain, frustration, and clueless leadership," El-Buba stated. He rejected vote-buying and political inducement, asserting that Nigerians are increasingly politically aware and unwilling to trade their future for short-term gains. "Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country," he said.
El-Buba declared that his movement would mobilize support for Adebayo, emphasizing the need for purposeful leadership to address the country's longstanding challenges. He described the current political moment as an opportunity for national rebirth and expressed optimism about Nigeria's future under leaders committed to institutional rebuilding and national values.
El-Buba warns against a one-party state while backing a candidate from a party with minimal national presence. His call for justice and equity rings hollow when supporting a political figure whose party has not demonstrated broad-based appeal. If Adebayo cannot attract support beyond niche endorsements, the push for competitive democracy loses meaning. The same voters said to reject inducements may find little practical alternative in a fragmented field.
