As Muslims in Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of Ramadan, the Ondo State Police Command has taken extra measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all. The command has deployed no fewer than 3,000 police officers across the state to maintain peace and security throughout the festive period.
According to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the deployment is part of proactive security measures to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations. The police personnel will be strategically positioned at Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, markets, and other critical public spaces in Ondo.
In addition to the regular police officers, special units such as the Tactical Teams, Explosive Ordnance Disposal - Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), Police Mobile Force, and State Intelligence Department operatives have been mobilised to prevent criminal activities and respond swiftly to any security threats.
This move aligns with the nationwide efforts by security agencies to strengthen safety during the Sallah celebrations. Residents of Ondo State are advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives. Any suspicious movement should be reported to the nearest police station or through emergency lines.
The Ondo Police Command has reassured the people of the state of its commitment to maintaining law and order, while wishing all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This deployment is a testament to the police's dedication to ensuring a secure and enjoyable celebration for all Nigerians, particularly in the South-West region where Ondo State is located.
As the festive atmosphere sets in, Nigerians can rest assured that the security agencies are working tirelessly to prevent any incidents that may disrupt the celebrations.
