Eid-el-Fitr: IGP Orders Nationwide Deployment of Tactical Assets to Ensure Peaceful Celebration
**Nationwide Security Deployment Ordered for Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations**
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has directed a nationwide deployment of tactical assets and personnel to guarantee a secure environment for citizens during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. This directive, issued to all Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across states and the Federal Capital Territory, aims to ensure a peaceful and safe festive period.
As part of the security arrangements, the IGP has ordered the strategic deployment of tactical teams, including intelligence operatives and the Special Intervention Squad, to key locations such as Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure. The deployment of these assets is designed to prevent and respond to potential threats during the celebrations.
In addition to the tactical deployments, the IGP has directed an increased police presence along highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces. This heightened visibility policing is intended to deter criminal activities and ensure a rapid response to any emerging threats. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP has also ordered coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations to maintain public safety.
In a statement, the IGP emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and security agencies. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information on suspicious activities, assuring Nigerians of the Police Force's commitment to safeguarding lives and property. Disu extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslim faithful across the country and wished them a peaceful and joyous celebration.
