The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission announced the arrest of a woman in Maiduguri, Borno State, on allegations of mutilating the national currency. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale issued the statement on Wednesday in Abuja, confirming that the suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday after a TikTok video went viral. The clip showed the woman "cleaning mucus from her nose with an N500 note." Following the release of the video, operatives of the commission traced and arrested her in the Maiduguri metropolis. The suspect is now detained at the Maiduguri detention facility while investigations continue. Oyewale added that the case will be forwarded to court once the probe is completed. The EFCC said it will pursue charges based on the findings of the ongoing investigation. (NAN)
