Ebonyi Govt Terminates All Uncompleted 2km Road Projects
**Ebonyi Government Terminates Uncompleted 2km Road Projects**
The government of Ebonyi State has terminated contracts for all uncompleted 2km road projects across the state. This decision was announced by the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr Ikeuwa Omebeh, during a briefing at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki. The termination comes after the state government observed that many contractors handling the construction of the 2km roads had either abandoned the site after receiving payments or executed very poor jobs on the projects.
According to Mr Omebeh, the state government had previously expressed concerns about the slow pace of work on the projects. On 3rd February 2026, the State Executive Council directed committees supervising the project to move to the sites and make recommendations for the termination of jobs that were either not seriously ongoing or poorly executed. The government's decision to terminate the contracts reflects its commitment to ensuring that public funds are utilized effectively and efficiently.
The state government also approved the release of **N300m** as the state's statutory 10% counterpart fund for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). This project aims to improve rural development, agricultural value-chain enhancement, and livelihoods in Ebonyi State for the 2026 fiscal year. By allocating funds for this project, the government is demonstrating its commitment to supporting economic development and improving the lives of its citizens.
