**EFCC Chairman Embroiled in Blackmail Scandal, Witness Reveals**
In a shocking turn of events, a Department of State Services (DSS) witness has come forward with a bombshell testimony that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, was allegedly blackmailed by a defendant through a Facebook posting. The case, which is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja, has sent shockwaves through the nation's anti-corruption circles.
According to the DSS witness, Yusuf Adams, the alleged blackmail was uncovered during an investigation into the defendant's social media activities. Adams, a personnel of the DSS serving in the Economic Intelligence and Investigation Department, revealed that the investigation was sparked by a petition from the EFCC alleging that the defendant had published false allegations on social media that the EFCC Chairman had embezzled over ₦4 billion meant for the Orogun Community in Delta State.
Adams testified that the team explored the defendant's Facebook page and discovered several videos in which he accused the EFCC Chairman of stealing the funds. The team also obtained receipts and bank statements from First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Zenith Bank, as well as incorporation documents from the Corporate Affairs Commission relating to community development entities operating OML 30 in Delta State.
The investigation also revealed that the defendant had written a petition to the Serious Fraud Office in the United Kingdom, accusing the EFCC Chairman of corruption, and had received a letter from the EFCC's counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN), requesting him to retract the allegations.
The witness revealed that the team submitted a preliminary report to their superior and subsequently filed a certificate of compliance. The case has sparked a heated debate about the allegations of corruption within the EFCC and the potential for blackmail and intimidation of anti-corruption officials.
The EFCC Chairman's reputation has been called into question, and many are left wondering about the implications of this scandal on the nation's fight against corruption. As the case continues to unfold, one thing is certain: the EFCC Chairman's reputation has been severely damaged, and the nation's anti-corruption efforts have been dealt a serious blow.
