**DSS Makes Another Big Catch in Gombe, Recovers Deadly Arms and Rescues Kidnap Victim**
In a major breakthrough, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended two suspected arms couriers in Gombe state, bringing to light an elaborate network of bandits involved in the trafficking of deadly arms across the northeastern states. The operation, which was the culmination of weeks of covert surveillance, has led to the recovery of two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) warheads, an RPG launcher, and other items linked to the nefarious activities of these bandits.
According to sources, the suspects, 55-year-old Muhammed Alhaji Mohammed and 47-year-old Sani Gesha, were intercepted in Mararaban Tula, Kaltungo Local Government Area, while traveling in a grey Toyota Corolla. The operation was reportedly carried out with precision, resulting in the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of the arms and ammunition.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a larger syndicate led by a notorious bandit, who has been involved in arms trafficking across Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Adamawa states. The suspects confessed that the consignment was meant for delivery to a resident of Bauchi state, highlighting the extent of the syndicate's operations.
In a separate operation, DSS operatives also rescued a six-year-old boy, Mohammed Jabir, who was kidnapped by one Salisu Hussain under the guise of teaching him how to ride a motorcycle. The kidnap was reported to the DSS, which responded swiftly, leading to the boy's rescue. The kidnapper was also arrested and is currently in custody.
The successful operation has been hailed by the parents of the rescued boy, who expressed their gratitude to the DSS for the safe return of their son. The suspects are currently in DSS custody and will be arraigned in court soon. This development is a testament to the determination of security agencies in Nigeria to combat the scourge of banditry and kidnapping, which has plagued the country for far too long.
