**DSS Cracks Down on ESN and IPOB Suspects in Enugu**
In a significant breakthrough, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a notorious Eastern Security Network (ESN) commander and a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Enugu State. The suspects, identified as Sabastine Odo Odam and Ejike Daniel, were apprehended on Friday, 6, at Eha-Amufu and Umuhu in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area.
According to sources, the arrests were the result of months of intelligence gathering on the activities of the suspects. The DSS had been tracking the duo's involvement in a spate of violent attacks on police stations and killings that have plagued Isi-Uzo LGA since 2024.
The suspects have allegedly confessed to masterminding a series of attacks on police stations and carting away arms. These attacks include the brutal killing of 11 labourers in February and the murder of five policemen between December 2025 and January 2026.
The residents of Isi-Uzo LGA are optimistic that the arrests will bring some measure of peace to the affected communities. Many have expressed relief that the DSS has taken decisive action to combat insecurity in the southeast.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the DSS and will soon be arraigned in court. This development is seen as a major success for the DSS in its efforts to combat insecurity in the country.
It's worth noting that the activities of ESN and IPOB have been a major concern in the southeast, with many accusing the groups of perpetrating violence and attacks on security personnel and citizens. The DSS's efforts to crack down on these groups are seen as a crucial step in restoring peace and stability to the region.
