Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State and Convener of the SMA Movement, has reaffirmed his intention to contest the gubernatorial election. He made the declaration during the SMA Movement General Assembly Strategic meeting with local government and local council development areas (LCDAs) coordinators in Ikeja. Ajose stated he would continue mobilising across Lagos, asserting that his campaign would ensure President Bola Tinubu's landslide victory in the 2027 presidential election. He referenced the 2023 presidential poll results in Lagos as a warning against complacency, urging grassroots members to spread the message.

Ajose emphasized that aspirants should be tested through party primaries, noting that President Tinubu became the party's candidate via primary, not consensus. He claimed to have united significant party members under the SMA Movement for the goal of electoral success. The movement's Director-General, Mr. Biodun Coker, said the people's will would determine the outcome, expressing confidence that SMA would reach Alausa by 2027. Chief Rasheed Shobaloju, a party leader in Lagos Island, stated the SMA Movement began in a room but now has national recognition, particularly in the South-west, citing widespread billboards for Tinubu's re-election.

Chairman of the SMA Movement, Dr. Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku, thanked ward-level coordinators for their support. Former House of Representatives member from Badagry, Hon. Rafeequat Arinola Onabamiro, affirmed that women's bloc votes in Lagos would back Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate. Coordinators from 20 LGAs, 37 LCDAs, and 376 wards attended the assembly, which endorsed Tinubu's re-election.
