**Delta Police Clamp Down on Crime, Recover Firearms, Hard Drugs** In a major breakthrough, police operatives in Delta State have recovered locally made firearms and illicit drugs, marking a significant victory in the fight against crime in the state. According to a statement by the Delta State Police Command, a series of intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of suspected criminals and the recovery of the illicit items. In one of the operations, a suspected illegal firearm fabricator, identified as 59-year-old Friday Ojei, was arrested by operatives of the Raiders Squad in Emuhu community, Ika South Local Government Area. The operation, led by SP Akanya Agbogha, followed intelligence reports about an illegal firearm production site in the area. The search of Ojei's premises led to the recovery of four locally fabricated guns, as well as equipment suspected to be used in the production of firearms. These equipment include a welding machine, drilling machine, grinding machine, and metal pipes believed to be used in fabricating the weapons. Ojei is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the illegal firearm production network. In another development, a joint patrol team from the Ovwian Aladja Division, led by CSP Ekundayo Friday, recovered a locally made short gun during a stop and search operation along Film Hall Road in Ovwian-Aladja. The team sighted a group of suspected hoodlums who fled on noticing the operatives, abandoning a black bag during the pursuit. A search of the bag led to the recovery of the firearm, which has been secured as an exhibit while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Also, operatives of the Ovwian-Aladja Police Station arrested a suspected drug dealer, identified as E, in a separate operation. E is currently undergoing questioning by the police. These operations demonstrate the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to maintaining law and order in the state.
