The Cross River State Police Command has apprehended the main suspect in the murder of 45-year-old Egbegi Elegbo Enya in Igbo Imabana village, Abi Local Government Area. The attack occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on April 10, 2026, and was reported the next morning by the victim's elder brother, Egbe Elegbo Enya. According to a statement issued on Saturday by police spokesperson ASP Sunday Akata, initial investigations indicate the victim was attacked with a machete by Emereze Gabriel Okoro, who allegedly acted with accomplices. Police detectives responded swiftly, recovering the body from the scene and transferring it to General Hospital, Itigidi, for autopsy and preservation. Emereze Gabriel Okoro has been taken into custody, while a manhunt is ongoing for other suspects connected to the killing. The police command reiterated its commitment to uncovering the full details of the case and ensuring all involved are prosecuted.
