The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed its judgment in a suit challenging the legitimacy of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola's appointments as interim national chairman and secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Justice Musa Suleiman Liman rescheduled the ruling from April 13 to April 14, 2026, due to prior official commitments, a court registrar announced to lawyers and observers gathered at the courthouse. The case was brought by Leke Abejide, a House of Representatives member representing Kogi State, who filed suit to nullify the handover of ADC leadership from Ralph Nwosu to Mark and Aregbesola. In the originating summons FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025, Abejide described the leadership transition as unlawful and is seeking a perpetual injunction to stop both men from acting as party leaders. He also wants the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) barred from recognising them in those roles. The defendants—ADC, Nwosu, Mark, Aregbesola, and INEC—have urged the court to dismiss the suit, arguing it concerns internal party matters that are not subject to judicial intervention. They claim the appointments followed a valid National Executive Committee meeting on July 29, 2025. Justice Liman had reserved judgment after final arguments were adopted the previous week. The court will deliver its decision on April 14, 2026.
