Four members of Boko Haram have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment on Tuesday after Ali Abiso, Bakura Abah Kabiru, Ado (also known as Luka Garba), and Babagoni Masawai pleaded guilty to multiple terrorism charges. The Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, led the prosecution, with confessional statements and investigation reports admitted as evidence through a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ali Abiso, charged in case FHC/KNJ/CR/509/2026, pleaded guilty to four counts. He received life sentences on counts two and four, and 25 years each on counts one and three, to run concurrently. Abiso was accused of aiding attacks in Bama, Gwoza, Konduga, Bita, Baza, and Aulari on or before July 8, 2022, under Section 17 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Bakura Abah Kabiru was sentenced to life imprisonment on count two and 25 years on each of the other two counts. Ado received life imprisonment on count two and 25 years on count one. Babagoni Masawai received life on counts six and seven, 20 years on counts one and two, and 10 years each on counts three to five. Fourteen other convicts, including Ali Mustapha, Danbawa Salisu, and Umar Garba, received prison terms ranging from 10 to 80 years, with some sentences ordered to run concurrently.
