The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State has elected new party officials to lead its activities for the next four years. The election took place in Lafia on Saturday, with delegates from all 13 Local Government Areas participating in a consensus-based process. Mr. John Michael-Abdul, former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, was elected as the new state chairman. Other key positions filled include deputy chairman, secretary, treasurer, publicity secretary, woman leader, and zonal officials for Nasarawa North, South, and West Senatorial Districts.
In his acceptance speech, Michael-Abdul pledged to reposition ADC as a credible political alternative in the state. He emphasized plans for grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy, and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. A comprehensive work plan targeting all 147 electoral wards across the state will be developed within 30 days. He expressed confidence that the party would unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in both state and national elections by 2027.
Outgoing chairman Barr. Paul Magaji thanked party members for their support during his tenure and urged unity behind the new leadership. Mr. Kani Jibarang, chairman of the Congress Committee, described the election process as peaceful and transparent, with all positions filled without conflict.
