The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to defeating security threats across the country. During an operational visit to Yobe, Shaibu conducted a battlefield assessment and rallied troops at Headquarters, Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, in Damaturu. The visit, detailed in a statement by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, occurred on Friday. Shaibu declared that the army would remain "aggressive and adaptive" in countering evolving threats, citing ongoing operational adjustments as effective despite recent attacks on military positions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with citizens and state governments for lasting security.

Shaibu was received at Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu, by Deputy Governor Idi Gubana, representing Gov. Mai Buni. At the military base, the COAS urged troops to intensify offensive actions and honour fallen comrades through renewed dedication. Gov. Buni praised the army's resilience and sacrifices in counter-insurgency efforts, calling fallen soldiers heroes who gave their lives for national peace. In a separate development, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, accompanied by Sen. Ali Ndume, made a condolence visit over recent military losses in the North-East.
