After being ordered to disembark from the plane, Chukwudulue underwent a body scan, which revealed that he had ingested a large quantity of cocaine. Under observation, he excreted a total of 52 pellets weighing 735.95 grams. Separately, two Angolan citizens, Mbandu Martins Makiadi and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, were intercepted at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while attempting to fly to Istanbul, Turkey, via Addis Ababa. During a body scan, both men tested positive for ingesting illicit drugs, and after being kept under observation, they excreted a total of 184 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.33 kilograms. The suspects claimed to have been recruited by a Luanda-based automobile spare parts dealer who promised to pay them $3000 each upon successful delivery of the consignments in Turkey. This brazen attempt to smuggle cocaine into Nigeria highlights the ongoing threat posed by drug traffickers to the country's national security. In a related development, NDLEA operatives also thwarted an attempt by a convicted drug kingpin, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules to London, United Kingdom. Oladimeji, who is currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos, is not ready to give up on his criminal enterprise. These arrests and interceptions are a testament to the vigilance and dedication of NDLEA operatives in their efforts to prevent the smuggling of illicit substances into Nigeria.
