**Champion Newspapers Honoured for Resilience Amid Economic Turbulence**
In a night of celebration and recognition, the Champion Newspapers Limited was hailed by notable Nigerians for its remarkable resilience and commitment to excellence over the decades. The Newspapers Awards 2025 ceremony, held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, March 14, brought together esteemed individuals and organizations to acknowledge outstanding contributions to national development.
Former Governors of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Aremo Olusegun Osoba, were among the dignitaries present at the event. Otunba Daniel, who served as the Chairman of the occasion, commended the Champion Newspapers for its dedication to reporting and informing the Nigerian public. Aremo Osoba, a special guest of honour, also praised the newspapers for its role in promoting national development.
The award ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of numerous individuals and organizations, including Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, who was named Governor of the Year for his efforts in youth development and security. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu's two Commissioners, were also honoured with the Star Performance Award 2025.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), represented by its spokesman, Mr Femi Babafemi, was awarded the Man of the Year, while Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), the agency's Chairman/CEO, was praised for his leadership. NDLEA was also named the Most Innovative and Outstanding Public Agency of the Year.
Other notable winners included Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, who was named Banker of the Year, and Access Bank Plc, which won the Bank of the Year award. Globus Bank Limited was named the Most Innovative Bank of the Year, while Moniepoint MFB won the Fintec Company of the Year.
