Breaking: Police remove force PRO as new development emerges
The Nigerian Police Force has reportedly removed the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), and replaced him with Anthony Okon Placid, a deputy commissioner of police (DCP).
A report that emerged indicated that the police authority had yet to make an official statement about the development, but sources within the force headquarters in Abuja confirmed the move to some journalists on Saturday, March 7.

According to Premium Times, the sources further disclosed that the force had created a new department known as the New Media Office and appointed Ali Giwa, a chief superintendent of police (CSP), to head the newly created office. The police are expected to make an official statement about the development later.
This is coming three days after President Bola Tinubu swore in Tunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police. At his inaugural speech, Disu promised a committed and service to the people oriented administration.
The address of the new police boss generated lots of reactions from Nigerians. Below are some of their comments:
Dhammiamond told Disu what to do first:
"If you people are serious, you'll first of all honour the Presidential Directives to withdraw all Police VIP attachés. The erstwhile IGP said he was feeling like a Tiger, he operated like a cat till the expiry of his term. Make una show substance and leave spectacle."
John called for clean up in the police:
"Mere rhetoric! Fish out all the rogues & defiant officers, make examples out of them by parading them & dismissing them. Then, we believe all this rhetorical jargon. Na business as usual ni yen ooo! Make una recruit more people into una fold ooo. Insecurity too much ooo!"
Lawan Danboyi Isa spoke against bribery in the force:
"You should stop collecting bribes from the poor citizens on the road and always be on the side of the good people of Nigeria, stop looking at the personality, put the integrity of a person, only then will the citizens believe that you are a friend, not an enemy."
Upliner called for action:
"We have heard that a thousand times, as we speak, policemen are all over the country extorting motorists, harassing citizens and forcing them to open their phones, been used by powerful people to intimidate others. Get to work and stop giving endless press conferences."
Uncle Sam called for the removal of roadblocks:
"First, all the unnecessary roadblocks, not checkpoints, should be removed from all highways and roads. And patrols should come back."
