Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has formally obtained the Senate nomination form from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat. He collected the form on Thursday during the APM National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party's national headquarters in Abuja. This move follows his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he left on May 2, 2026, citing unresolved court cases and internal party crises. Mohammed stated that the APM offers a platform unburdened by legal disputes, allowing him and his allies to focus on public service. He emphasized that the party aligns with his values of good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and adherence to the rule of law. In a statement, he confirmed his intention to run for the Senate under the APM ahead of the upcoming elections. The governor disclosed that multiple political figures who served under his administration in Bauchi have joined him in the APM, including members of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, and grassroots supporters. His senatorial bid had been anticipated since his departure from the PDP, and the acquisition of the nomination form formalizes his ambition.
