Reality TV star James McCoy Taylor has found himself in hot water once again. The country singer, who rose to fame after competing on Season 12 of "The Bachelorette," has been arrested for assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint.
According to online court records, Taylor was taken into custody on a warrant from Texas, stemming from an incident that occurred in April 2024. He was released on a $10,000 surety bond after a brief stint in custody.
This is not Taylor's first run-in with the law. In 2023, he was arrested on the same charges for an incident involving a 19-year-old college student. The police report alleged that Taylor groped and forcibly kissed the woman, and threw her to the ground as she tried to leave.
Taylor's past transgressions have not gone unnoticed. He pleaded guilty in 2025 and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, $1,000 in fines and court costs, anger management classes, and ordered to have no contact with the victim. He was also banned from Texas' Northgate Entertainment District.
Taylor's Instagram following has not been affected by his recent arrest, with over 100,000 followers still eagerly awaiting his updates.
James McCoy Taylor's infamous reputation as a reality TV star has taken a hit, but it's his music that might be affected the most. With Afrobeats dominating the global music scene, can a country singer like Taylor still make waves in the industry? His troubles have sparked a conversation about accountability in the entertainment world, and the consequences of one's actions.
