**Tragedy in Minna: PoS Operator Slain in Early Morning Attack**
In a shocking and disturbing incident, a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, Aliyu Vatsai Musa, has been brutally killed by suspected assailants in Minna, Niger State. The horrific attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 9, 2026.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers forcibly entered Musa's residence and, despite pleas and offers of money, made it clear that their intention was to take his life. The assailants allegedly stabbed Musa in the stomach and attacked him multiple times with a machete.
Neighbours who heard Musa's cries for help rushed to the scene but were unable to apprehend the attackers, who had fled the scene before help arrived. Musa was later taken to the police station in Tudun-Wada before being rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed dead.
The elder brother of the deceased, Ibrahim Kolo, described the killing as tragic and expressed hope that those responsible would be brought to justice. Musa was buried at a Muslim cemetery around 10 a.m. on Monday.
The Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the attack, stating that police received a report of suspected homicide around the Mandela area of Minna at about 3 a.m. on March 9, 2026. A patrol team from the Tudun-Wada Division was dispatched to the scene, but the suspects had already escaped before their arrival.
A preliminary examination revealed injuries on Musa's chest and machete cuts on his head. Thankfully, nothing was stolen from the house during the incident, but security operatives recovered exhibits, including an iron cutter used to force entry through a window and a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack.
This senseless killing raises concerns about the level of violence and insecurity in our society. We can only hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and that measures will be taken to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
