Former Governors and APC Leaders Reaffirm Readiness for National Convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gearing up for its national convention, with several high-profile leaders reaffirming their support for the party's presidential candidate, President Bola Tinubu.

Ben Ayade, a former Governor of Cross River State, Yakubu Dogara, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Aminu Masari, a former Governor of Katsina State, made the declaration on Monday in Abuja.

According to Ayade, the party is repositioning to create a new Nigeria with a clear agenda to put people first. He commended the management of the Federal Capital Territory for its cleanliness efforts.

The Secretary of the convention committee, Senator Uche Ekunife, stated that the party is not only prepared for the convention but also for the 2027 elections. Ekunife expressed confidence that APC will win the elections with a landslide victory, securing 90 per cent of all votes cast in Nigeria.

The APC's confidence in President Tinubu's re-election bid is palpable, with several key leaders reaffirming their support. However, the party's assertions of a landslide victory in 2027 raise concerns about the credibility of their electoral prospects. As Nigerians, we must be cautious of such boasts, especially given the party's history of underwhelming electoral performances. The focus should be on the concrete policies and plans that the APC has in store for the country, rather than relying on grandiose predictions. The party's leaders must demonstrate a genuine commitment to addressing the country's pressing issues, including the economy, security, and infrastructure. Only then can they justify their claims of a landslide victory in 2027.
