The All Progressives Congress has set a date for the screening of aspirants vying for national offices at its upcoming convention.

The screening exercise will take place on March 24, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, starting at 9am.

Aspirants who have purchased and submitted their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms are required to attend in person, bringing all relevant supporting documents for verification.

The Aspirants' Screening Committee has emphasized that attendance is mandatory for all aspirants.

The committee's notice, signed by Isa Yuguda, was posted on the APC's X handle on Sunday, and includes contact phone numbers for further enquiries.

The APC's decision to hold a screening exercise for national office aspirants on March 24 is a crucial step in the party's 2026 national convention. However, the mandatory attendance requirement raises questions about the party's commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The fact that the screening exercise will take place in Abuja, a city already dominated by the party's elite, may further marginalize aspirants from other regions. For everyday Nigerians, this means that the APC's leadership is still largely concentrated in the hands of a few powerful individuals, rather than being representative of the country's diverse interests.
