The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected new executives for its North-West zone, with Muhammad-Garba Babawo emerging as zonal chairman. The election, which took place during the APC North-West Zonal Congress in Kaduna, saw Hadiza Alhaji elected as zonal woman leader and Abdulhamid-Umar Mohammed retaining his position as zonal youth leader. The other officials elected include Salisu Tsafe as organising secretary, Mailafiya Mada as publicity secretary, and Bashir Hussaini as legal adviser for the zone.
The APC North-West Zonal Congress was attended by key party leaders and stakeholders from the region, including Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. Governor Sani urged unity among party members, describing the congress as a reflection of the APC's democratic values. He also welcomed new members, including Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal, and reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu's administration.

💡 NaijaBuzz TakeThe APC's decision to elect new executives in the North-West zone is a significant development, but what does it mean for everyday Nigerians? The APC's emphasis on democratic values and grassroots-driven leadership is welcome, but it remains to be seen whether this will translate into tangible benefits for the people of the region. The defection of Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal to the APC is a significant boost to the party's national outlook, but it also raises questions about the party's commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The APC's ongoing reforms in agriculture, energy, and social interventions are yielding results, but the party must do more to address the pressing issues facing the North-West zone, including poverty, insecurity, and unemployment. Ultimately, the APC's success in the region will depend on its ability to deliver on its promises and address the needs of its people.
