**Federal Constituency Left Out in the Cold: APC Congresses in Kaduna Raise Eyebrows**
In Kaduna State, a heated debate is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the party's ongoing congresses. Stakeholders from the Chikun and Kajuru Federal Constituency have come out swinging, accusing the party of marginalising their constituency in the process.
These concerned citizens, comprising notable figures from the area, have expressed their discontent in a statement released recently. According to them, the Kaduna State Organising Committee for the congresses left out their constituency, sparking concerns about fairness and equality within the party structure. Given the significant population and electoral strength of the constituency, this exclusion is seen as a snub.
Historically, the Chikun and Kajuru Federal Constituency has been a strong supporter of the APC, contributing significantly to the party's electoral victories in the state. Yet, despite this loyalty, they have been shut out of key party positions, including the Kaduna State Executive Council. This oversight is perceived as a recipe for disaster, potentially undermining the party's chances in future elections.
Critically, former members of the House of Representatives, House of Assembly, commissioners, heads of agencies, and local government chairpersons from Chikun Local Government Area have been excluded from both the local government and ward congress committees. This is seen as a breach of democratic norms and party traditions, which dictate that the highest-ranking political office holder in a local government area should oversee congress activities.
The implication of this marginalisation is far-reaching, threatening to alienate grassroots supporters and weaken party cohesion in the area. To prevent this, the group has reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and called on the party's national and state leadership to review the situation and ensure adequate representation of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in all party structures.
As the APC looks to strengthen its base in Kaduna State, the party must take heed of these concerns and address the perceived marginalisation of the Chikun and Kajuru Federal Constituency. Anything less risks undermining the party's progress and potentially costing them electoral victories in the future.
