Anthony Placid Replaces Hundeyin As NPF Spokesman
**New Face of NPF: Anthony Placid Takes Over as Force Spokesman**
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made a significant change in its communication department with the announcement of Anthony Okon Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). This development comes weeks after the assumption of office by IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu and a subsequent reshuffle in the police hierarchy.
Placid takes over from Benjamin Hundeyin, who had been at the helm of the NPF's communication department since 2015. A seasoned officer with a wealth of experience in administration, intelligence, operations, training, and international peacekeeping, Placid is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the role.
Born in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on December 2, 1970, Placid hails from Mbiokporo Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. He is a graduate of Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo and holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (M.A.L.D.) from the University of Jos. He also has a law degree from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
Placid's journey in the police force began in 1996 as a cadet assistant superintendent of police at the Police Academy, Kano. He was commissioned in August 1998. Throughout his career, he has attended several professional and international courses, including the United Nations Peace Operations Specialised Training (POST), which has earned him certifications as an expert in police studies, military studies, and human rights.
As FPRO, Placid will be responsible for communicating the NPF's vision and policies to the public. His appointment comes at a time when the police force is seeking to improve its relationship with the public and address concerns around security and policing in Nigeria. With his vast experience and expertise, Placid is well-equipped to navigate the complex landscape of Nigerian policing and communicate effectively with the public.
