This happened at about 6:30 a.m. on Palm Street by Target Junction in Calabar. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday, the police were informed of the incident and dispatched a team to the scene, where they found the burnt corpse in front of the transformer. The police recovered some items suspected to be vandalized materials, including an old electricity meter box, a piece of copper wire, and electric cables. The Cross River State Police Command has warned against mob action and jungle justice, emphasizing that such actions are not only unacceptable but also against the law. The command advises members of the public to hand over suspects to the police for proper investigation and prosecution rather than taking the law into their own hands.
