**Shrine of Notorious Native Doctor Demolished in Anambra**
In a bold move to rid the state of illicit activities, the Anambra State Government has demolished the shrine of a notorious native doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as "Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki", in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. The massive shrine, which served as a hub for nefarious activities, was brought down by the state's security outfit, Agunechemba, following a court judgment delivered in Awka.
The High Court had sentenced Nwangwu to 11 months imprisonment for his involvement in ritual practices and other offences. The court's decision was a culmination of a lengthy trial that followed his arrest in February 2025, alongside two other native doctors, Eke Hit and Onye Eze. Their activities were believed to have contributed to the rising insecurity in the state, which has since significantly decreased.
The demolition of the shrine marks a significant milestone in the state government's efforts to enforce the law and prevent the spread of illicit activities. The Agunechemba security outfit, established by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been instrumental in ridding the state of such activities. The government's campaign against ritual and criminal practices is a welcome development, especially in a state that has long struggled with insecurity.
The shrine's demolition serves as a warning to those involved in similar activities that the state will not tolerate such behaviour. The Anambra State Government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and this move is a testament to that commitment. As the government continues to enforce the law and prevent the spread of illicit activities, Nigerians can only hope that this trend continues and the state becomes a safer place for all.
The demolition of the shrine is a significant step in the right direction, and it's a reminder that the government will not hesitate to take decisive action against those who threaten the safety and security of its citizens.
